On the lookout for smart people who like to learn and make things.

Front-end Developer (React/Javascript)

We’re on the hunt for a couple of front-end developers — people who nerd out on Javascript, making interfaces with React, and find real satisfaction crafting true-to-the-design CSS in components.

About You

As the right person for the job, you have an impressive knowledge and curiosity about building things for the web. You have ideas for making your own products, or have already built one on the side. Writing components, managing state, working with API's, and trying new tools are all part of your workflow. You read the documentation out of habit, and are keen to explain difficult concepts to your teammates.

Your tool chest must include Javascript, React, HTML, and CSS - for bonus points, you've also worked with Python, Django, Postgres and/or Heroku. Most importantly, we value good coding fundamentals and a focus on shipping above all.

About Input

As a digital product agency, we revel in the joy of the craft and take pride in making apps that people love to use. We seek coworkers who are self-directed learners with enthusiasm, a can-do attitude, intuition for problem-solving, empathy, listening skills, kindness, and respect for diverse perspectives.

Our clients are mostly startups across industries like healthcare, well-being, insurance, finance, and productivity. We’re into work/life balance, side projects, flexible hours, and avoiding unnecessary meetings. Our HQ is in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, but we have teammates across Canada. We encourage remote and diverse candidates to apply.

To apply, please email us your resume, and we'll consider it lovingly.

Product Manager

We’re on the hunt for a Designer turned Product Manager who can team up with our clients to launch beautifully crafted apps and interfaces.

As a Product Manager, you’re a great communicator with experience taking digital products from idea to launch. You enjoy problem-solving — specifically, weighing client goals and feature requests against the timeline, budget, and teams’ capabilities. Since you’re the glue that keeps the designers, coders, and clients all on the same page, you’re super organized. You take great notes and love using tools like Notion, Trello, Figma, and Teamgantt. Managing expectations is second nature to you.

Some of our clients are experienced founders and know exactly what they want, while others are first-timers with just a seed round an an idea. It’s your job to help them turn their ideas into actionable user stories, tasks, a roadmap, and timelines. You’re not afraid to talk about extending the budget, but you’d rather cut features than delay a launch.

Ideally, you’ve put in years as a Designer and have moved into Product Management as your next challenge.

iOS Developer

We’re on the lookout for an iOS developer to join our team who’s eager to launch apps with polished and delightful interfaces. This would start as a 6 month contract and potentially lead to permanent employment.

About You

As the right candidate, you have an impressive knowledge and curiosity about all things iOS and enough design sense to play nicely with our designers.

You naturally read the documentation and aren't afraid to share your discoveries with teammates. You're proficient at Swift, with experience using SwiftUI, integrating to third party API's, and making the most of core Apple API's and hardware. You nerd out on the details, building complex UI's with polish.

While this role is for iOS development, we also build a lot of web products, so bonus points if you have experience developing web or mobile products using Javascript or Python.

About the role

As an iOS developer at Input, you'll initially start by gaining an understanding of our workflows and familiarize yourself with the frameworks and SDK's we use. Once tasked with a project, you'll work alongside a (mostly) agile team of designers and developers, with a product manager to assist you.

Week to week, you'll participate in (not too many) team meetings, providing insight and ideas directly to clients who are often startup founders or product managers. You'll have a high-level of autonomy and will often be the only iOS developer on a project, taking designs from Figma all the way through QA, and to the App Store.

As an intrinsically motivated individual who takes pride in doing great work and loves to learn, you'll enjoy the flexibility of being relied on for your hard-earned knowledge and experience.
